Whose Approval Are We After?

Tue, 28 Jun 2011 20:36:00 GMT

The world promises success, rewards and happiness if we will pursue that which it approves.  But the only approval that matters is God's.  Striving to please God because you love Him and are grateful for all He has given you in Christ is the best thing you can do for people — wether or not you gain their approval.

A Legacy of Faith of Joy

Sun, 08 May 2011 21:51:00 GMT

Ruth's faith decision and loving commitment to Naomi, "Your people will be my people, and your God, my God" brought a rich reward. She became an ancestor of David and Jesus (Mt 1:5), and inspired a legacy of faith and joy.

Madison-Monrovia Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church

is a new congregation of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. MMARPC is a church called to reach those outside the boundaries of churches, us “sinners” with whom Jesus broke bread (Mt 9:11). It is our fervent desire to follow Christ’s example and “seek the sick and the lost” (Lk 19:10).

We want to communicate clearly, with our lives and in our teaching, the availability, relevance and preeminence of God’s love, forgiveness and acceptance in Jesus Christ (Jn 3:16).  We strive to identify and eliminate religious caricatures of Christianity which the unsaved and non-churched report as reasons for not seriously considering the claims of Christ or attending church ... caricatures that “shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces” (Mt 23:1-39).  We depend upon the guidance of God’s Spirit (Gal 5:25) and are motivated by Christ's love (2 Cor 5:14), “Who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding His blood for us” (Rev 1:5), to continually improve our practice of the priority ... to “love one another” (Jn 13:34) with the welcoming, inclusive, selfless, service-minded, sacrificial love of Jesus Christ.

Our prayer for all we do is that God will be glorified, and each person involved at MMARPC, whether as member, attender or seeker, will discover, be challenged by, and renewed daily with a fresh understanding, experience and expression of God’s love and joy for us in Christ!

The ARP Seal expresses our basic beliefs

ARP SealMadison – Monrovia Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church is a new congregation of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.  THe ARP has deep roots in American history — the product of union in 1782 by two Colonial denominations, the Associate and Reformed Presbyterian Churches.  We  at M-MARPC are excited and eager to share the great news, “God is ready to help right now! Today is the day of salvation!” (2 Cor 6:2) “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved!” (Acts 16:31)

The ARP Seal expresses in symbolism our basic beliefs:

The Shield, the basic form of the seal, signifies complete trust in God. Faith is the outstretched hand by which sinners receive the free gift of salvation and eternal life offered by Christ (Jn 3:16; Rom 4:3)

The Cross forms the central emphasis of the seal, and represents the Person and work of Jesus Christ. Jesus is Emmanuel — God with us, the Son of God, the sinless God/man. He willingly died on a cross, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven in order that sinners could be completely forgiven, declared righteous and reconciled to the Holy God (Rom 3:23-25; 1 Cor 5:21).

The Circle symbolizes eternity and God the Father. The Heavenly Father lavishes love upon all who trust in Jesus Christ, such that they are called children of God (1 Jn 3:1). By His sovereign power He sustains His creation and orders the affairs of people and nations according to His own wise, eternal plan. By His providence He is operating throughout history to fulfill His redemptive purposes (Rom 8:28-31; Eph 1:3-23).

The descending Dove portrays the presence of God the Holy Spirit as He witnesses to the Church and through the Church to the world. He illumines the minds of sinners, awakens in them recognition of their need for a Savior and regenerates them. He permanently indwells every believer to become his or her source of love, assurance, power, wisdom and joy (Mt 3:16; Acts 1,2; Rom 8:1-27; 1 Cor 2, 3:16, 12).

Collectively, the Circle, Cross and Dove affirm the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one God in three Persons, the same in substance, equal in power and glory (Mt 28:19; Jn 1, 3, 17; 2 Cor 13:14). The Book represents the Bible, the inerrant, infallible, written Word of God. The Bible is “God-breathed,” our only rule of faith and life (2 Tim 3:15).  The Burning Bush on the left or Old Testament page denotes the eternal, indestructible nature of God's Word (Ex 3:2). Alpha and Omega on the right or New Testament page symbolize the authority of Christ, “the first and last,” “the way, the truth and the life” (Rev 1:8; Jn 14:6).

The Words on the unfurled Banner are from Psalm 36:9: In Thy light shall we see light. Purpose, meaning, love, forgiveness, security, significance, peace, joy — the sum of human need — are met in a relationship with God, through faith in Jesus Christ.
