Ruth's faith decision and loving commitment to Naomi, "Your people will be my people, and your God, my God" brought a rich reward. She became an ancestor of David and Jesus (Mt 1:5), and inspired a legacy of faith and joy.
The challenge of this life and its ups and downs, twists and turns, is to trust God ... to believe that He is in control of all of the details, using them for His glory and our good, and that His promise to one day take us Home to be with Him forever in heaven is certain.
When we were at seminary, Connie used to enjoy — with one child, have time for — candlewicking and cross-stitching. I remember picking up one of the pieces she was working on and thinking, "Oh boy, this isn’t very good." The stitches were a mess of tangles and colors. Then I turned it over. Suddenly the mass of threads made sense, and were the beautiful church and countryside that hangs in the middle of our family room. One day we will see the beauty that God has created out of the mess of this life. Trust Him until He does. Those in your life will see your trust, and trust Him too!
Each generation, in every family, God gives moms an opportunity to blazon their family coat of arms. Whether mom came from a godly, responsible family, or one that was indifferent to God and dysfunctional, each mother has the ability to choose the heritage she will bestow upon her children. So, trust Chirst, and remain lovingly loyal to those He gives you. You will instill a legacy of faith and joy!

Re: A Legacy of Faith of Joy
It is funny how a mother's love is unconditional. This is a great reflection on how God loves us. When you said, "One day we will see the beauty that God has created out of the mess of this life. Trust Him until He does. Those in your life will see your trust, and trust Him too!". I truly do believe this and it could not have been put into words better. It is funny how things always seem to work out in the long run?!

I loved the analogy you used about the cross-stich pattern making no sense until you turned it over to see the "finished" side. That is so like life ... some of it just doesn't make sense to us, but God always sees the "finished" side and we will too some day! Thank you for your diligence in helping us understand and better see God in our lives every day.
